In the 12th century, people began to add eggs with colors to Easter celebration so they were called Easter eggs. The original symbolism of eggs is "spring—the beginning of a new life". Christians take it as a symbol of "Jesus resurrection and out of the stone grave". Easter egg is the most important food symbol, signifying the beginning and continuum of life.
When refer to the origins of Easter egg. There are two legends.
The first legend description: One of the Nuns saw two people with shinning clothes standing by them. She colored the fantastic vision to the Easter eggs and then passed to disciples of Jesus. Disciples spread the information with the help of doves.
The second legend description: The one who bore the cross for Jesus was an egg-selling businessman. He saw there were many colored eggs in the basket and then he brought this news to people.
Lots of westerners would play a game called "Easter Egg Hunt" on Easter and hidden inside the colored eggs, there would be gifts. The one who had found the colored egg would be very excited. So egg is the most typical symbol on Easter which stands for surprise besides rebirth.
