YouTube Rolls out Movie On-Demand Service—Competing with iTunes?

Rumor shows that a movie on-demand service is bound to release by YouTube which will be taken as the weapon to fight with iTunes. This implies that YouTube is going to challenge the most powerful paid video viewing service—iTunes and which will also bring prosperous income to Hollywood. The service is going to make a debut this week at the soonest and next week at the latest. This piece of news may be exposed to the public soon.

In January 2010 all the popular film studios concluded movie leasing agreement with iTunes, including Fox, Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, Sony, MGM, Lionsgate, New Line, etc. Apple charges movie rental as low as $2.99. It is still not clear about the charging standard and charging plan of YouTube, but it does make sure that over 130 million users on YouTube per month can watch movies on it by paying. This is the first time Google gives great impetus to movie business, simultaneously, charging fees for movie content.

Hollywood has been trying hard to find out the way to sell high quality at a good price. Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Universal Studios, Lionsgate and Kino Lorber will authorize to this new services except Paramount Pictures and Fox.

Films from these film studios will be on iTunes and YouTube at the same day which is much earlier than Netflix and more video subscription services.
